Terence was placed with us about 18 months ago through Standguide, He’s lived in Crewe for about 20 years, becoming unemployed after the factory he worked at was closed down. Terence went from four years of making pie-machines to four days a week unloading furniture, going out on the vans and helping in the centre. He’s since become part of the furniture himself and is now with us regularly each week! When asked what it is that keeps him here? “Well, you meet all kinds of people and make friends as well.”

Terence admits he’s less of a loner now than when he first arrived, “It gets me out of the flat – If I wasn’t here, I’d be watching telly all day and that’s no good.” He’s also gained a certificate in computing and is now at a more advanced level, as well as attending a course in map reading. There are occupational hazards… “I get back ache now and again but I feel better in myself. I’ve lost weight and I’m more confident. I keep looking for a job but I’m quite happy here.”
