Community partnerships include:
- We continue to rent office space to Sustrans (Sustainable Transport) and CLASP (Christian Link Association of Single Parents)
- We collect and store tools, sewing machines and typewriters for Tools With A Mission before they are shipped to sorting depots for redistribution in the Third World.
- We partner with the Salvation Army at Christmastime, providing vans and drivers to assist with the distribution of food and toys.
- We have also worked with Lighthouse International, a charity based in Manchester, who took some childrens’ items to support disadvantaged families in both Manchester and Romania.
- As a charity we are always grateful for financial support and were delighted to receive £10,000 from our local social housing provider Wulvern Housing. But before funds were exchanged, we recognised the potential for partnership.
A partnership that counts will always begin with words and grow into actions. Two years ago Wulvern Housing began a dialogue with us, a conversation about this community for which we have a mutual concern. During 2007 our two organisations ventured a small but worthwhile step towards blending our different strengths in an operational area where we both benefit. We piloted the work of Christian Concern, Crewe removing and storage of furniture from completed tenancies. This is working really well and has prepared the way for further developments.
- Through the Cheshire Furniture Re-use Forum, we are in contact with the other projects across the County. Worth mentioning here is our pilot project in co-operation with the North Staffordshire Furniture Mine on collecting white goods for a three-month trial. On the personnel side, we have been working with Crewe YMCA Foyer and the Princes Trust, who have been placing young men with us to have a stepping stone into the world of work.
